This half-day seminar/training session will focus on the importance of family involvement in successful recovery from addiction and also successful community re-entry when applicable. Strategies and programs geared toward educating families on being the “right help” to assist their loved ones with making healthy choices will be presented and discussed. Information will be provided to encourage families to continue participating in supportive services. The aim of reducing risk of relapse and recidivism will be a central theme and focus of the material covered.
About the Presenter, Jim Joyner, LICDC-CS
Jim Joyner is a master’s level Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor Clinical Supervisor (LICDC-CS). He has over 44 years of professional experience working in the field of alcohol and other drug prevention, treatment and recovery services. Jim currently serves as President of the Ohio Association of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Counselors (OAADAC) and Chairman of the Greater Cleveland Municipal Drug Court Advisory Board. He is founder and director of Joyner and Associates LLC which provides intervention, consultation, counseling and training services for those impacted by a loved one’s abuse or addictive use of alcohol or other drugs. Jim has received numerous proclamations and awards including Cuyahoga County Advocate Award 2013 presented by the Northeast Ohio Recovery Association (NORA) & the ADAMHS Board of Cuyahoga County, Advocate of the Year Award 2008 presented by OAADAC, and the Exceptional Achievement Award 2005 presented by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD).
